Charity Bike Rides for Nathan Butterworth
Lands End to John O'Groats
Day 13: Thursday 29th August
From Aviemore to Carbisdale Castle
Estimated: Today's mileage: 73, Total mileage: 871.
Actual: Today's mileage: 77, Total mileage: 898.5.
A slow day today.
2 punctures, Alan & ‘little’ Steve
No rush to get to Carbisdale Castle as there is nothing there except the Castle/Hostel. There is no food at the castle, unless you want to cook, as it is the chef’s night off. So after a number of plans were discussed we sorted out a taxi to take 5 of us to the nearest hotel for dinner, that meant no shopping, no cooking, no washing up and we get to eat better food than we would cook. It looks like most of the others are having a tuna & pasta party with each of them bring tuna & pasta, lovely.
Nice views along the route today, we also saw a few seals on the Cromarty Firth. Crossing the Cromarty Firth was ‘interesting’ as a side wind was blowing at about force 6+, the bikes had to be leaned over a lot to compensate, we cycled on the walk way across the bridge to be in the road would have been far too dangerous, it was bad enough as it was.
Only 2 more cycling days to go!!!!
My camera has almost stopped working, bloody Casio service centre.

Just when he was getting into the swing of it Alan has another set-back, this time 'only' a puncture. A welcome relief after his 2 crashes. |

Dornoch Firth towards Bonar Bridge & Carbisdale Castle. This most likely wins 'the best view' award. |

Carbisdale Castle. Not bad for a hostel. |
