Charity Bike Rides for Nathan Butterworth

Lands End to John O'Groats

Day 12: Wednesday 28th August

From Pitlochry to Aviemore

Estimated: Today's mileage: 60, Total mileage: 799.

Actual: Today's mileage: 64, Total mileage: 821.5.

This ride is so much about mental attitude!!  Just about everyone is up beat today, all the remaining distances are less than yesterdays.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, or should that be ‘at the end of the road’.

Today was ‘only’ 64 miles, so with half the ‘fast’ group needing to visit the most helpful bike shop in the country, David & I set off alone to knock out the miles. This is the day that I too succumbed to the A-road temptation and joined the A-road 'Time Trialist' burning up (I wish) the A9, I must admit it felt good and served a purpose.

I wanted to arrive in Aviemore as early as possible, so as to get as much time off the bike as possible and hopefully the best rest possible.

David & I arrived in Aviemore at 12.20pm, so we should have about 20 hours off the bike – almost a whole days rest – great!

This afternoon I shall mostly be a tourist around the shops of Aviemore.

Deja vu?

See Inverness to Glasgow Day 2.

Aviemore Hostel.  Because of the short distance today I played at being a tourist.
